The First Period
Step 1. Getting ready 1
1) T: (Point to the watches in the first picture.) What are these? Ss: They’re watches. (Point to the clocks on the wall.) What are these? Ss: They’re clocks.
2) Continue with other pictures.
Step2. Using the book1
1) T: Let’s listen.
2) Let’s listen again and repeat.
3) Play the tape for a then pause.
4) T: which picture is it? Is it this one?
5) Model drawing a line from the letters to their corresponding pictures.
Step 3. Getting ready2
1) Write three words, e.g. bike, cap and kite at the top of the board.
2) Invite three Ss to do quick sketches of those objects on the board.
3) Invite another three Ss up, have them each say one word and draw a line from the word to the sketch.
Step4. Using the book
1) T: look at the pictures. Match them to their words.
2) Put Ss in pairs to help each other.

1) Put the picture cards of Tony and Jenny on the board.
2) Write the number seventeen and thirteen to the right of the picture cards.
3) Write the number tissues and napkins to the right of the written numbers.
4) Ask two Ss to come to the board.
5) T: (speak to S1.) Tony has thirteen napkins.
6) S1 draws a line from the Tony card to the number thirteen and then to the word napkins.
7) T: (speak to S2.) Jenny has seventeen tissues.
8) S2 draws a line accordingly.
Step2. Using the book1
1) Point to Gogo, Tony and Jenny and the written words.
3) T: listen. Connect the pictures and words.
4) Stop after each sentence and let Ss repeat.
